Post all the generations of corvette from favorite to least favorite. Or if you agree with mine just say that.

So my list is as follows C2, C7, C5, C3, C1, C6, C4. (The pictures are also in the same order as the above list in case you didn’t know the generations by name).

Not to hate on your favorite corvette, but I find the C4 very ugly. Nice to see that you agree that the c6 sucks though.

The C1 with mesh over the headlights has always been my favorite, followed by the C7, then C2. I like the rest equally. (Though I have a soft spot for C4s, since they’re the ugly duckling)

The C1 has a fatal flaw that lowers the ranking on the list................. NO V8!?!?!?!?!?! IT’S ‘MURICA WE ARE TALKING ABOUT HERE (although the later C3s had some pretty damn weak v8s)

i’m sorry, I fucking hate the C5. it is hideous in my eye, and there was nothing revolutionary about it. the C4 set a sort of precedent for how future vettes would be. the C5 was a damn-near bankrupt GM’s last drowning breath; which in all it’s plasticky late 1990’s ness somehow saved Chevy.

/rant

but if you like it, that's great! I won't say it doesn't have it's merits (especially the Z06 with the 405HP) but personally I just don't like it

2, 7, 3, then 4, 5 and 6 are all equal to me in that they all have great things about them, but none of them really stand above the other. Late C4s have recently become a huge want for me.

C3, C4, C5, C6, C2, C7, C1

I’d rather have an attainable car that I can actually drive and maintain in my own garage than some sort of trailer queen I have to stress out about. And I just don’t like the styling of the C7s. I like wedge styling, which is why the C4 is so high and why the C5 (I would only consider a Z06 C5, otherwise C6) edges out the C6.

Based almost entirely on physical appearance: C2, C1, C6, C3/C4, C7, C5.

C2 will always be the best-looking Vette, but C1 is a very close second.

C6 has just the right mix of curves, edges, and Vette DNA and IMO only gets ranked low because it’s the last generation.

C3 and C4 are a toss up because the first got significantly worse with age while the second improved to a similar degree. Also, while the swooping lines of C3 appealed to my younger self, with time I’ve come to appreciate the proportions and simplicity of C4.

C7 I want to like, but the brace-face and Transformer rear just don’t work for me. Good thing it’s a wonderful performer.

That said, C5 is the homeliest Vette. Never liked it at all. Even before I liked C4, C5 was still at the bottom of the list.

It’s hard to go by generation, since while I like the 53/54 and 59/60, the rest of the first gen I like less than a fourth gen... But...

2, particularly a 67 427

1, particularly a 59/60

7

6, ideally a Z06

4, I really like the 4, but the reason it’s down here is because I love the early half with round tail lights, but the interior is meh, but when they fixed the interior, I like the face lift less than the original.

3, ideally a 68, the bubble window looks good but the erformance...

5

The C3 is and perhaps always will be my favorite. It often seems to be toward the bottom of such lists (usually because of what’s under the hood), but that body is one of the sexiest things to ever come out of GM.

My dream Corvette would be a resto-mod C3.

Me personally, I have always thought that there was just something magical that you just can’t put your finger on in terms of C5 styling. It just looks a lot cleaner than the C4 and is a bit more swoopy than the C6 (and doesn’t have the terrible headlights).

You can’t really fault what’s under the hood when it wasn’t just the Corvette that had crap motors. Every v8 of the era made no power (stupid emissions laws/oil crisis).

The C3’s lackings weren’t its fault. The styling was great and every other Detroit V8 was lacking in the power department. There were no good motors to put in it. Now the C4s styling, is another story. It could have been much better. At least it paved the way for the amazing c5 (which you seemed to have forgotten.)

The way I see it, the clean, square C4 melted under whatever energy source gave us late-90s/early-00s styling and hardened into C5. Once everyone realized just how awful all of the blob-mobiles were, a sculptor took their tools to C5 and the result was the tight, muscular form of C6. It’s an improvement in so many ways.

As far as headlights go, IMO nothing is worse than awkward-looking popups, which C5 has. I give C6 props for being the first Vette with real headlights since C1 and I think they look great.

The C6 headlights are awful with the body color behind them. The c7 ones are much better. Also, the C6 lost the styling magic.

6 doesn’t get enough love 4 and 5 are great cars but hardly the best corvettes. 1 also should get more love it was where the car really found itself. I love early swoopy spaceship 53 to glitzy 59 and muscley 62’s. My dad has a 65 so it will always hold a special place in my heart and hopefully in my future garage

I’m in my mid-30s. With that in mind:

Early C4 – Sharp wedge styling, pop-ups, round tail-lights in a concave rear shape, Atari dash, 1 st 6-speed in a Corvette, ridiculously underrated performance, unassuming, cheap to mod. For me, it’s the perfect blend of engineering capability without the driver nannies that would come later.

Early & Late C3, C5, Late C4 - These are basically tied and change positions frequently.

C2 & C7 - Cool, but relatively little attachment.

C1 & C6 - Eh. They don’t do it for me. The C1 just seems to be so radically different from the rest that it’s hard for me to lust after one. The rear of the C6 is absolutely beautiful, but those front headlights would have been so much better as pop-ups.

Mid-C3 - It’s still a Corvette and I’d still be proud to own one and drive it. Even in its slowest form, it still has a SBC, which is very easy to make fast.

I wanted a Corvette a year ago and went through this on my own. I researched and ended up putting my money where my mouth is. A 1989 was the year for me, as it’s the first with the 6-speed and the last with the Atari dash. No regrets so far.
